Who are All In For Alberta (AIFA)?
We are a group of UCP members from metro Edmonton. We have a wide variety of work
backgrounds, and long histories of being involved with the UCP and both its Legacy
Parties.
What is AIFA promoting?
Our goal is to have the following Bylaws resolution be passed at the
2025 UCP AGM:
Bylaws Article 4 - Membership
4.7.4 For the purpose of voting at an AGM or SGM, a Member may
either be in attendance at the meeting, or may register for, but need not physically attend
the meeting.
(subject to amendments before submission)
Why are you promoting this?
The whole idea about having this resolution pass at the 2025 UCP
AGM is for attendees of future AGMs to avoid having to pay significant money to attend
and vote at the AGM, which members from two or three different CA regions currently have
to do. AIFA is not advocating for free attendance at an AGM or SGM; rather we're
advocating for every attendee to have close to equal costs to attend. We assert that
every member should have some 'skin in the game', but every member should have the same
amount of skin in.
What can I do?
Spread the Word
Spread the word about this initiative talk to other UCP members, communicate
with your CA Board about the initiative and your support for it, as well as your
MLA, if he/she is a UCPer
Rank Online
Have everyone UCP member you know support this resolution by voting 9 at the
ranking stage
Attend AGM 2025
Finally, and, most importantly, attend the AGM and vote for the resolution!
The Real Costs of Attending an AGM
The ticket price for admittance to an AGM is only the
start of the conversation about AGM costs.
Why Winning By 50% Isn't Enough
We want as many people as possible to vote in the UCP AGM
Plenary - read on to find out why.
Keys to Success
AIFA's goal is to have a governance resolution
passed at the 2025 UCP AGM to expand access to UCP elections and other votes.
- Communication of the resolution and support for it
- Ranking the resolution high enough in the 2025 Resolution Ranking Stage
- Attend the 2025 AGM and vote Yes when the resolution comes up at the plenary
Electronic Voting
The use of electronic counting machines in elections is
considered by many to be a controversial decision. This article discusses some of the
different points of view for and against it.
A History of Voting Rights in Alberta
Here are a few interesting facts about
how elections evolved in our province.
Will you be asking for donations?
Not now, not ever. Our organization is self-funding. We only ask that you support
this initiative as best and as often as you can by: talking about it, expressing
your support to your CA Board and your UCP MLA, vote for it during the Governance
and Policy Resolution ranking stage coming up in late summer or early fall of 2025,
and, if you are able, attend the 2025 AGM and vote for the Bylaws resolution we're
advocating to pass.
